  • Stanley Howard

    Stan is Founder of Gordian Capital Limited and of Gordian Capital Singapore Private Limited where he currently serves as both Chairman and Non-Executive Director.

    Prior to establishing Gordian Capital, Stan founded Teneo Partners, the subsidiary of which, Teneo Partners Japan Limited, has since 2003, been Japan’s premier boutique placement agent of offshore funds and one of the very few independent, foreign owned securities distributors licensed by the Japan FSA as both a Type 1 and Type 2 Financial Instruments Business Operator.

    Before forming Teneo Partners, Stan was President Asia/Japan for Investor Select Advisors Limited, a fund of hedge funds focusing on the Asian markets. Based in Tokyo, he guided the growth of the firm and raised the majority of the company’s AUM from financial institutions in Tokyo. Previously he was a member of the Tiedemann Investment Group, responsible for placing their funds with Japanese and Asian investors.

    Stan began his career with Smith Barney Harris Upham & Co. where he was responsible for U.S. equity sales to Japanese institutional investors. From Smith Barney, he moved to Morgan Stanley where he managed the foreign equity sales team in Tokyo and headed the U.S. equity desk for Japanese institutions. Over the last twenty years, Stan has been involved in the hedge fund industry in Asia working with both single managers and fund of funds raising assets and servicing Asian institutional clients. He has been active in industry organizations, including previously serving as Vice Chairman of the Tokyo and Singapore Chapters of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA).

    Stan holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Michigan and an MBA from the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University.

    He was born and raised in Japan, is a native speaker of Japanese and has over forty years of experience in dealing with Japanese and Asian investors.

  • Mark Voumard

    Mark Voumard is Founder of Gordian Capital Limited and of Gordian Capital Singapore Private Limited where he currently serves as Chief Executive Officer. Mark who has lived and worked in Asia since 1983 was also a founder in 2003 of Teneo Partners Japan Limited, a Tokyo based, fully licensed securities company and Japan’s premier placement agent, prior to establishing Gordian Capital Singapore in 2005.

    During his career, Mark has lived and worked in Melbourne, Zurich, Tokyo, London, Hong Kong and Singapore including 20 years in Tokyo and is a fluent Japanese speaker. His career primarily focused on managing sales teams specialising in Japanese, European, Asian and U.S. equities and Equity Linked products servicing a wide client base that included Japanese, Asian and Australian institutional investors and hedge funds based in Japan, Asia, the US and Europe and business development. Firms he has worked with include Baring Securities, Paribas, W.I. Carr, D.E. Shaw and KBC Securities Japan. At Gordian Capital, he has been involved in the structuring and launch of over 100 funds (hedge, private equity, venture capital, real estate, and private credit) since 2005.

    Mark is registered with the Monetary Authority of Singapore as a Registered Representative, holds an corporate authorised representative licence under the Australian Securities and Investment Commission (ASIC), is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (AICD) and the International Bar Association (IBA). He represents Gordian Capital as a member of the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA), the Singapore Venture Capital & Private Equity Association (SVCA), the Investment Management Association of Singapore (IMAS) and the Asian Venture Philanthropy Network (AVPN). In March 2021, he was appointed as an inaugural Executive Committee Member and Co-Chair of the Promotion and Advocacy Working Group of the Singapore Funds Industry Group ("SFIG"), a collaboration between the MAS and the Singapore funds industry. Mark who was born in Melbourne and holds both Australian and Swiss citizenship studied Economics and Japanese at Monash University.

  • Anil Ponnampalam

    Anil is an Executive Director and the Chief Portfolio Officer for Fund Solutions at Gordian Capital Singapore Private Limited; he serves as Senior Portfolio Manager, as Member of the Investment Committee, on the Board of Directors, and as Supervisory Board Member to various Private Equity, Real Estate, VentureCapital, and Private Debt Funds on the Gordian platform, in addition to advising on fund structuring. Anil brings over 20 years’ investment management experience having worked on liquid strategies (Public-Listed Markets &Instruments – both on Long-Short and Long-biased mandates), as well as illiquid strategies (Private Markets).  Prior to Gordian Capital, the majority of his experience was gained at Asset Management firm Daiwa Sumitomo Bank Investments and Hedge Fund Fundamental Capital; both as Portfolio Manager, responsible for security selection and portfolio construction for Asia/Asia Pacific Ex-Japan Equity mandates.

    Anil started his career on the equity derivatives trading and structuring desk at the Development Bank of Singapore Treasury and Capital Markets division and subsequently worked for a boutique investment firm, Orion Capital, on private equity and mezzanine transactions as well as corporate restructuring. Anil has managed assets for institutions (sovereigns, pensions, corporates, and funds of funds) as well as multi-family offices. He has served on asset allocation committees responsible for decisions on country and sector allocations and is experienced in running active overlays in various asset classes as hedge to underlying equity portfolios.

    Anil is a Registered Representative for the regulated activity of fund management with the Monetary Authority of Singapore and a Member of the Singapore Institute of Directors. He completed the Private Equity Executive Programme at the University of Oxford and has a post-graduate Master’s degree specialising in Economics and International Finance from King’s College University of London, receiving a merit for the taught program and a distinction for his research dissertation. Anil graduated with Honors in Engineering for his undergraduate degree and is a Singapore national.

  • Janessa Zheng

    Janessa is an Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer at Gordian Capital Singapore Private Limited. Janessa has more than 18 years of experience in operations and client servicing across financial advisory, asset management and private banking. 

    Prior to re-joining Gordian Capital, she worked from 2015 to mid-2019 at the Bank of Singapore as Head of the Discretionary Portfolio Management Middle Office (“DPM”). Janessa oversaw day-to-day portfolio management activities including the placement of trades and tactical & central asset allocation monitoring as well as periodic compliance, risk limit checks and audit reporting on portfolios, liaised with Portfolio Managers, Compliance and Operations on portfolio administrative issues, worked closely with Portfolio Managers on new mandates including a core role in the recent launch of an internally managed fund. She was a key project member in onboarding and implementing a new Portfolio Management system in the DPM Team as well as acting as Stream lead in the Barclays integration project, following the acquisition. 

    Janessa was part of the core team at Gordian Capital from 2007 to 2015 where she both managed and grew the Investment Operations team as the company experienced significant growth. She handled domestic and international trade communication and settlement issues, built Gordian Capital’s in-house NAV engine, onboarded new funds, facilitated fund closures and fund migrations, managed relationships as the number of external service providers grew from 6 to over 100 and supported the investment professionals on the platform. 

    She began her career with Merrill Lynch International Bank Limited as a Client Service Officer in their Taiwan/China Market, CSO Department assisting Financial Advisors managing daily tracking of client’s overall cash positions, preparation of market charts, generation of stock information account statements and performed asset transfers. Janessa is a Singapore national, fluent in English and Mandarin, holds a Bachelor of Science (Statistics) from the National University of Singapore and is a CAIA Charterholder.

  • Cherie Tay

    Cherie is an Executive Director, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Risk Officer at Gordian Capital Singapore Private Limited. She is a Chartered Accountant with more than 23 years of experience across a wide range of industries including financial services, manufacturing, telecommunication services, market research and professional services. Cherie has significant experience in financial accounting, shared services setup, team management, and analytical reporting as well as business partnering with internal stakeholders.

    Prior to joining Gordian Capital, she was Deputy Head of Finance at TP ICAP, a globally recognized brand in brokerage services that plays a pivotal role in the world’s financial, energy and commodities markets. There, she oversaw regulatory reporting, corporate governance, payroll and financial accounting, statutory and external audit and annual returns as well as working on process improvement and project management. Additionally, she lead and managed a team of accounting staff across five entities in Singapore, Seoul and Manila. Before her tenure in TP ICAP, she served as the Finance Manager at GfK, a German listed MNC in market research services, where her responsibilities included group consolidation of accounts for branches in Asia, preparation of APAC cashflow forecasts for working capital requirements, annual budgeting and all financial reporting and tax matters. 

    At Cable & Wireless, a UK listed MNC in the telecommunication industry, she handled the accounting and tax matters for their Singapore and Australian entities and her duties included statutory audits, intercompany reconciliation and settlement processes with the company’s European & Asian entities. Cherie began her career with Emerson Process Management, a US listed MNC in the manufacturing industry, as an AR Accountant where she was responsible for DSO AR ageing, facilitation of shipment release and credit control management across all Asia Pacific sites. Her other responsibilities consisted of maintaining internal controls for SOX compliance for the payables team and engaging in collections meetings as well as system project involvement.

    She is familiar with various front office trading systems as well as accounting software including SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics Navision and SUN systems. Cherie is a Singapore national who is fluent in both written and spoken English and Mandarin. She holds the professional qualification for ACCA, is a Chartered Accountant of Singapore, and holds a Degree in Business (Major in Banking & Finance) from Nanyang Business School, Nanyang Technological University.
